Welcome to Irvine Root Canal.

Root canals have a bad reputation. Because of myths surrounding the procedure, many people that need root canal therapy postpone or avoid it out of fear or nerves. But at Irvine Root Canal — where we are dedicated exclusively to the specialty of endodontics — root canals are not a nerve-wracking experience!

Our Irvine Root Canal Specialists understand the anxiety that some people feel at the prospect of having a root canal or other endodontic treatment. We don’t judge or scold anyone for postponing or avoiding root canal therapy. Our goal is to make the experience as gentle, positive and productive as possible. Every patient is treated with genuine compassion and patience.

Most of the time, our patients tell us that a root canal is no more uncomfortable than a routine tooth filling!

About Irvine Root Canal

Irvine Root Canal is a premier dental practice committed to delivering expert endodontics care. Our team is dedicated to meeting our patients’ needs in a comfortable, welcoming office environment using the latest technology — including the Sirona Galileos, a special X-ray system that is significantly safer and more advanced than traditional dental X-ray equipment. We value the dental health and safety of our patients and are grateful for the trust they place in our practice.

We are conveniently located off Jamboree Road on Alton Parkway in Irvine. We have a general dentist on-call Monday through Thursday, with all-day office hours on Thursday and Friday. Our 24-hour answering service is available for emergencies that occur after hours or on weekends.

Meet Our Endodontic Specialists

Irvine Root Canal is led by Dr. Arshia Kasravi, one of the area’s leading endodontists. Dr. Kasravi graduated from University of Southern California’s School of Dentistry and practiced general dentistry for a few years. She then enrolled at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, completing her two-year residency training and earning a specialty degree in endodontics and a master’s degree in surgical dentistry.

Dr. Kasravi’s favorite part of practicing endodontics in Irvine is hearing positive feedback from patients — especially those that say they thought getting a root canal would be a lot worse than what they just experienced.

Digital X-Rays with the Sirona Galileos System

We are one of only a few dental practices to use the revolutionary Sirona Galileos digital X-ray system. This technology allows us to generate detailed three-dimensional images of the teeth, soft tissues, nerve pathways and bone during the diagnostic stage. With this information, endodontic therapy is quicker and safer, and patients have a clearer understanding of their treatment.

Root Canal FAQs

How do I know if I need a root canal?

Typically, your general dentist will be able to recognize the need for a root canal treatment during a regular dental exam. However, you may be in need of a root canal if you are experiencing any of the following symptoms:

  • Lingering tooth sensitivity to hot or cold

  • Tooth discoloration

  • Discomfort when chewing

  • Severe mouth pain

  • Concentrated pain that wakes you

If you are experiencing one or several of these symptoms, please call us to schedule an endodontic exam.

Why is root canal treatment necessary?

Endontic treatment becomes necessary when the the pulp, or soft tissue inside the root canal becomes infected or swollen. If left untreated, this can cause worsening pain or lead to a more severe infection or abscess. Our Irvine endodontic specialist can save your tooth by removing the infected pulp, cleaning the root canal, and sealing the tooth to prevent further infection.

Is root canal treatment painful?

Due to advances in the technology and anesthesia used for root canal therapy, most patients report feeling comfortable throughout their endodontic procedure. At Irvine Root Canal, we exclusively perform endodontics, so our endodontic specialists are experienced in providing a positive root canal therapy treatment.

Will I experience pain after my root canal treatment?

You may experience some slight sensitivity or soreness in the days following an endodontic treatment. This pain should be manageable with prescription or over the counter medications. Keep in mind that the purpose of this treatment is to alleviate any pain or discomfort that was being experienced or would have been experienced had you not undergone treatment. After your follow up endodontic appointment, you will need to revisit your general dentist to get a crown, which will fully restore the tooth.

I was in to get the ‘dreadful’ root canal. I was out the door in one hour..was my clock wrong? I guess I was a lucky one to have everything go smooth and having no pain (don’t be hating on me ;-). All the staff is nice as usual and always seem to be relaxed and willing to talk to you like a friend, rather than doctor/patient. I highly recommend Serene Dental.

Fell asleep during root canal… the finest compliment one could give. Sorry if I snored. Thank you so much again Serene Dental!!!

Accurate scheduling and flawless execution. Adopted treatment plan as issues appeared (kind of like renovating an old house, you never really fully know what’s inside the wall until you’re inside). Post treatment (2 root canals and extraction), post operative pain and swelling was minimal (which speaks to level of clinical skill). Highly recommended.
